Another thing that really gets on my nerve is all of these drugs that are used to help cure one sickness, but may cause up to ten or more other types of symptoms. And this may only be after a year or two on this drug, who knows what will happen in the long run of these miracle drugs.
I know we are in a society where looking for the cure for sickness is in mandatory effort. But before we go putting thing out on the market we should have them be evaluated more. What are the long term effects that could be worse than the already known disease. In the March 22, 2005 edition of the New York Times page C2. A once popular heart drug impairs kidney action. Some are blaming the FDA for not putting the correct labeling on the product others are blaming the doctors that prescribed this in wrong dosages. Alot of these drugs are able to be out on the market before getting the full approval from the FDA. Why is this happening? I think people are so excited about the possibility of a cure drug, that they forget to give it enough time to see lasting results.

I used to work as a rehab instructor in a psychiatric day program for people with severe mental illness. 99% of them were taking a lot of "mind drugs" that supposedly made them better, the only side effect seemed to be that they walked around like zombies.

Sometimes psychotropic drugs can help get a person's life back on track but I will say the criteria for diagnosing mental illness is mostly subjective.
